great what are some of the positive benefits you’ve noticed uh since starting the Mind gut immunity Clinic well oh man my life changed a lot um for the for one thing my inflammation everywhere in my body has reduced drastically I didn’t even know really what inflammation was um I just thought it was a very I mean I guess it is kind of a broad term but normally like when I thought of inflammation I thought I was like you know you get a cut and your wound gets inflamed I didn’t really think about it from like an internal point of view um so I I immediately I would say probably a week after I started I already started seeing a lot of benefits so for example my focus like I would have like that brain fog and my focus was like pretty good also I I when I put my pants on uh like my gut started shrinking on its own like I was I’ve always had like this this like P this gut like could be skinny but I also had a little bit of a gut and that went away it’s really crazy I thought it was just something that I could just get away with just purely with exercise I always thought that like you know whatever diet was whatever and then you can just exercise off the weight but it wasn’t really weight it was I guess it was inflammation um I felt more energetic um I also gave up coffee because I didn’t want to have too much like crazy bowel stuff going onh so I realized that I didn’t I had the energy to kind of not need to have coffee um so that was pretty interesting to me as well um and also everyone that and also coincidentally because it was like during the holidays everyone looked at me and they’re like wow you look different like you look good like what have you been doing they noticed oh wow okay yeah they noticed crazy and also like I I go to a gym and they even they said something and I was like holy crap I guess it’s true I mean I guess we like us we don’t really notice it because see each other every yeah we yeah we see ourselves every single day right so right so but after a few weeks they’re like dang you’re doing something different what is it like you’re looking younger and so you know the physical the mental all those things have made a really they made me feel good you know um but but you know when I got into all of this the thing that was most important to me was getting rid of my eler of K kitis flares and I had been um typically I’ve only had it was my third flare but it was the longest lasting one and you know I was in my head I’m thinking like dang this is not going away I had it for like maybe two months and I didn’t know what to do uh the doctors would tell me it had nothing to do with your diet so take melamine and then if that doesn’t work we’ll you know take other medications and I was like okay well I know I remember last time I had a flare I took my salamine and I had an adverse reaction to it so I was reluctant to try it but I’m like okay what was that reaction you had it was horrible I got I woke up the next day with like a elevated temperature almost a fever um so and I remember telling the doctor that and he was like No just stick with it and see like if it gets bad by the end of the week we we’ll try something else so I’m like okay I I wasn’t really sure if it was exactly the medication or just aler of colitis yeah and then so so I tried it for like a few more days and I was I was starting to just tolerate the pain it was horrible and then my body started getting really stiff and that’s when I was like I can’t move my neck and I’m like okay I’m I’m just gonna stop taking this and then I found you well my wife found you and you know recommended you know your your course and so that to me was amazing and of course you know there there’s always a sense of skepticism like you don’t know because you know I don’t know there’s just a sense of skepticism because like I guess I don’t know you I didn’t really see you in a person like you don’t know my history and so that made me a little reluctant but then you know there’s people who who say I’ll try anything so I’m like okay sure why not you know it can’t really hurt the medication was making it worse and it was prescribed by another GI so I’m like okay let me try this and your approach was what worked for me um I I did also have some doubts when GIS told me had nothing to do with diet and I’m like how could that be like this is a gut problem and I’m you know I’m investing things I found really hard to believe and so finally when when I when you were so vehemently like talking about like yeah it is about what you e I’m like okay cool I found someone who like really believes uh in this I think also like most people me included believe that we’ve grown so accustomed to taking something to make it better as opposed to making a lifestyle change yeah and so I’m like okay well let me make a lifestyle change for my and it takes longer right it’s not one of those things where it’s from one day to the next you’ve you feel better it’s a gradual um process where you start feeling better and even more better and then so yeah so I’m glad to say that what percentage of your symptoms would you say have improved in six weeks um I would say all of them and more and also things I didn’t know that I had uh so yeah like I’m more flexible which is kind of crazy I didn’t know I always thought I was just like not a flexible person um I also had a lot of post-nasal drip I mean I still have a slightly little bit but that could be due to like me having so many pets in the house yeah but it’s reduced drastically for sure wow so you’ve had 100% resolution of the UC symptoms plus you’ve had resolution of symptoms that were not even related to UC it sounds like right within six weeks that’s great yeah yeah that’s great what would you say was the most helpful thing or helpful part of the program um definitely was the like the the like the intro Kate that you gave me like the the types of foods to eat and to avoid guide right that like that large document you get that on day one actually right like here you go thing right yeah yeah right I remember I got that pretty late at night because that that night I got it I had dinner with my dad and uh I remember telling my family I’m like all right this is the last day for a while that I’m going to eat freely you know like after this I’m going to go to Whole Foods buy the majority of the ingredients that were recommended and then start my my new diet so yeah yeah I was excited to get started yeah we put that by the way that document is like basically 13 years of my experience treating patients and then scattered in there is sort of you know obviously lessons learned from my own experience with this issue so um yeah it’s um it’s very helpful very very helpful um so now that you know now that you’re sort of symptom free what are you I guess what are you looking forward to the most you know it’s funny well I’m I’m definitely looking forward to improving improving my health um I I’ve become a little bit more obsessed with uh I guess working out seeing how much more fit I can be that also um I want to reintroduce some foods um I’ll be honest I am a little scared because I’m afraid that if I do reintroduce some things listen man I will I will teach you how to cheat effectively so you do not get the inflammation back you know right that’s what we do at this stage of the game right like you know first six weeks we’re pretty strict once things get once the symptoms are all resolved then we start teaching you how to transition back so that’s kind of what we’re g to be talking about uh today so that’s great awesome yeah well the the one thing I do miss a lot it’s funny I fantasize about going to like there’s this French bakery nearby and I just want to have a croissant like just a really fresh croissant I haven’t had bread um since since I started I haven’t had pasta um I haven’t had beer um but to be honest because I haven’t had beer I you know I haven’t woken up hung over and so I’m like you know what it’s maybe it’s that’s a good thing maybe let’s see how far I can get without you know having you know beer or alcohol in general because I I just feel so much better yeah I don’t want to go back into that habit um yeah yeah yeah well that’s great um and what advice would you give to somebody who’s maybe struggling with autoimmune disease inflammatory bowel disease some kind of digestive problem um yeah knowing what you know now what what sort of advice would you give them I would say you know don’t fall into convenience I would say that convenience is the one thing that really makes us unhealthy in general and it’s unfortunate because convenience it’s you know it’s it’s it’s everywhere you know like you I I had I throughout this you know six we journey I I drove from Miami all the way to Tennessee and I remember stopping on the way there I’m like I can’t eat anything in these gas stations like and that’s literally like the the symbolism of convenience it’s a convenience store everything in there is just pure junk and the only thing I could eat was probably the pistachios that they sold you know but everything else was just trash and sometimes you’d be like I want to grab you know a bag of chips and no that’s like no don’t do it like Temptation like just forget it have some nuts and you’ll be okay and eventually you know I I got used to like not even craving those things anymore at first I was it was hard because at the start of the program if you recall I I went to go take a trip with some friends in Tennessee we were on we were back and forth texting calling each other like it was yeah it was kind of like a actually we did our intake you were you were in the cabin when we did our intake right I mean you were traveling when you started the program really um but you did you did great you know yeah yeah luckily I had a talk with my friends and so they kind of understood and they did they weren’t uh they didn’t pressure me to eat things or drink things I didn’t want to do so that you know that’s kind of cool also having a good good company also like you know you don’t have company that just and this includes family too because family also has you know bad habits and and then they look at you especially like you know Latin families like Latin families like to ton of like don’t worry Indian families are there too man Indian families were right there with you man yeah yeah yeah and I I had I did have some friends that would kind of make fun of me a bit like I had one buddy but we’re like really close so we’re like we can kind of make fun of each other that way like oh you know eat your rabbit food today yeah and I’m well I mean it’s actually pretty good you know I yeah so yeah the so you know but you touch on an important topic and that’s like this the there’s a lot of social pressure to eat a certain way you know whether it’s cultural or not and I think and there is there’s this layer of like convenience that gets sprinkled in right like and anything that you do out of convenience is usually not that great like if you do entertainment out of convenience you’re probably watching a TV you know if you hang out with people for convenience it’s probably not like the best people in the world you know so it’s always better to be hyper selective and think about actually think about what what’s going into your body and who you’re hanging out with how you’re spending time these sort of things are make Life Choices a lot more deliberate and you can also listen to what what you need and fulfill your needs that way and I really truly believe that yeah definitely I it also really helped that I had an accountability partner my wife she was also yeah we we put everybody on a group text right we’re like may as well you know and we do that a lot we add family members to our conversations so that we can increase the accountability and and and people are successful that way to be honest with you that way everybody’s sort of in on it together um that really does help I’ve seen it I’ve seen it help quite a bit you know in a lot of people that I’ve worked with right yeah and and the wild part is that you know going back to that whole convenience thing it’s like I feel like convenience nowadays is like the Baseline so like to make a change especially with your diet it’s like you have to make effort right like right that’s why the first week for me was so hard because at first like the with the quick start guide I didn’t really have it memorized but the shakes for example were super clutch like I I learned to love them uh I made them all the time I didn’t get used they’re easy too right they not terrible yeah it’s routine at this point like I instead of making like a cup of coffee I now just make a shake and I make sure I have the ingredients always stocked up and I love it it’s it’s super good I I look forward to waking up and making my shake now so well very good very good um you know I think the next the next part of our journey is actually getting you back to a little bit more normal diet you know and I know you have actually a desire just to maintain this new healthy life lifestyle but I will teach you ways to integrate some of these things back into your diet without causing any problems so that it’s you know it’s not totally restrictive and U and you you know you also stated to me you have fitness goals you want to get stronger probably more lean muscle and so we’ll have to make some adjustments to some
