For our clients, we help design custom diet plans based on several key criteria: Microbiome Specificity, Phytonutrients, Macronutrients, and Food Sensitivity. These four criteria help determine whether any type of diet will work for managing Fibromyalgia symptoms during a flare, as well as healing inflammation over time, to reach remission. In this video, we review many popular diets out there, and compare them to the Mind-Gut-Immunity method.
carnivore diet for fibromyalgia does the carnivore diet actually help with fibromyalgia and how can you ensure you’re getting the best results this video covers everything you need to know about the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia and how it Stacks up against other diets and what you need to look out for plus we’ll share some tips on how you can track your progress and get the best results [Music] hi I’m Dr Chan oser a surgeon dedicated to reducing inflammation caused by gut microbiome imbalances I myself struggled with digestive dysfunction and autoimmune disease in my early 20s and successfully put together a methodology that worked not only in me but also in my patients my method is called the mut immunity approach and has resulted in thousands of successes over the years if you are someone you know struggles with fibromyalgia and wants to rid themselves of inflammation for good check out our website mgic clinic.com and schedule a discovery call with me I’ll walk you through some practical steps for fibromyalgia recovery and how to achieve lasting results in just 6 weeks all right let’s get into it now we’ve seen case studies backing the carnivore diet for managing fibromyalgia but there’s also research showing the opposite with some even suggesting the carnivore diet could contribute to the development of fibromyalgia so how do we sort through all this conflicting research to figure out what really works for fibromyalgia as I mentioned in my video ideal diet for fibromyalgia I’m a strong believer in customizing diet plans for each individual and I use four important criteria to determine if a diet will work for fibromyalgia here’s a recap of these four criteria number one is phytonutrients number two macronutrient requirements number three microbiome specificity and number four food sensitivity if you want to Deep dive into these criteria check out the ideal diet for fibromyalgia video but I’ll also quickly review them here now let’s talk about how the carnival diet compares to other diets like the phytonutrient diet I advocate for in fibromyalgia so just to review harmful bacteria and fungus in your gut feed on carbs like sugar starches and fiber leading to bloating gas and inflammation so does the carnivore diet actually help with fibromyalgia yes it sometimes does but that’s only because it eliminates carbs from this equation reducing the source of inflammation the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia focuses on animal-based Foods exclusively removing all fiber and carbohydrates with the inclusion of electrolytes for balance this diet cuts out all sources of carbohydrates such as fiber sugar starches and lactose and provides calories from fats and proteins this full elimination is why it’s different from low carb diets like keto which may still allow small amounts of carbs by doing so it starves the harmful bacteria and fungus in the gut that thrive on these carbohydrates this is why the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia can be used as a temporizing solution especially during FL clups or when other diets aren’t working for fibromyalgia however those four criteria we discussed earlier are important to consider eliminating carbs may not resolve the underlying gut imbalances that are essential for long-term management of fibromyalgia and we’ll dive into that next let’s look at the first criteria phytonutrients phytonutrients are plant-based micronutrients that provide antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits for people with fibromyalgia phytonutrients can be helpful in reducing inflammation throughout the body and improving gut health overall here’s a 2020 study exploring the impact of tryptophan and magnesium enriched diets on psychological variables and Sleep Quality and women with fibromyalgia another 2024 study investigated the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in fibromyalgia and evaluated the effects of Basia sarata a natural polyphenol in modulating the symptoms phytonutrients fall into several key categories like polyphenols tpin thiocyanates fiber resistant starches Omega fats and alkaloids these these nutrients are crucial for reducing inflammation which can help improve symptoms in fibromyalgia the downside to the carnivore diet is that it doesn’t include any phytonutrients but if you’re interested in trying this diet out you can still get phytonutrients by incorporating herbal tees which deliver phytonutrients without adding carbs fiber or sugars other diets to also consider that are related to carnivore like paleo keto and low carbs these do allow for phytonutrients so they may be worth considering if you’re looking to get those anti-inflammatory benefits but just remember that with a strict carnivore diet you won’t get phytonutrients which means missing out on some of their beneficial effects for fibromyalgia now let’s move on to macronutrient requirements the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia does a good job in terms of meeting macronutrient needs macronutrients include carbohydrates fats and proteins you can calculate your macronutrient needs by using the calculator on my website if you’re following the carnivore diet you’ll have to adjust these numbers by increasing your intake of fats and proteins while decreasing your carbs in general a diet that gets half of its calories from fat is normally a good thing although I don’t particularly like it that the saturated fats and meats which are associated with certain inflammatory processes are where you’re getting these fats from I also don’t like that the animal-based cholesterol in the meat can allow for increases in arachadonic acid in the body I describe both of these Pathways of fibromyalgia related inflammation in my other videos on my channel so if you need a refresher feel free to look at some of these videos when I design diets for my clients they’re generally lower in carb anyways for obvious reasons and most of the fats come from plant Omega sources so you don’t have this problem from a macronutrient perspective the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia works but the fat and cholesterol concerns need to be addressed now let’s look at microbiome specificity in carnivore diets for fibromyalgia let’s go back to this equation you have bad bacteria and fungus which feed on carbs which results in inflammation while the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia removes the carbs does it actually promote the growth of good bacteria and the answer is a clear no now I know this might sound controversial to some because there are plenty of people on YouTube who believe that the gut microbiome diversity improves on a carnivore diet and there are even several Reddit threads dedicated to discussing this but from my practical experience after reviewing hundreds if not thousands of school studies I have never seen a healthy microbiome in someone following the carnivore diet with fibromyalgia fibromyalgia related inflammation often stems from gut microbiome dysfunction that’s why in our program we begin with patented probiotics from Japan to recalibrate the gut microbiome and push out harmful bacteria but how do we ensure the growth of good bacteria it’s not by avoiding carbs it’s by selecting the right phytonutrients and this is where the Mind gut immunity method truly shines we carefully design a diet that promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria which lay down a protective bofilm that pushes out the harmful bacteria and fungus over the course of several weeks this process allows the body to produce fewer pro-inflammatory markers like histamine tnf Alpha and Inter Lucan 6 the major issue with the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia is that it doesn’t address the root cause sure you may stop feeding the bad bacteria temporarily but as soon as you reintroduce fiber starches or sugars the symptoms flare up again and I’ve seen this pattern repeated ly people fail the carnivore diet because it’s simply not sustainable long term when they go back to eating carbs the symptoms return because the gut microbiome dysfunction was never truly resolved in contrast the phyto diet for fibromyalgia tackles the root microbiome issues allowing you to have more dietary flexibility in the long term this means you can even incorporate cheat meals without experiencing negative consequences I typically teach my clients how to cheat by the second or third month of the program once we’ve resolved most of the gut rated issues while the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia can help during these flare-ups it’s not a sustainable long-term solution compared to the phyto diets that we create for our clients over the years I’ve had many Discovery calls with people who have tried the carnivore diet for fibromyalgia but didn’t achieve long-term success most of them experienced some temporary relief but as soon as they reintroduced carbs their symptoms came back and this is a story I hear frequently My Hope Is that this honest review helps you decide whether the carnivore diet is right for you for managing fibromyalgia while it can provide short-term relief the key to Lasting results lies in addressing the gut microbiome dysfunction that’s the root cause finally let’s discuss the last criteria food sensitivities and fibromyalgia food sensitivities are a big issue when managing fibromyalgia in my other videos I go over four main food sensitivity tests that are available the skin prick test the IG blood test the igg4 blood test and the newer mediator release blood test if you’re unfamiliar with these test you can go watch my other videos discussing food sensitivity testing for fibromyalgia now with the carnivore diet we need to consider complex proteins something I’ve talked about before when you consume large amounts of protein it’s broken down by enzymes called proteases in the stomach and upper intestines these enzymes break down the proteins into individual amino acids which are then absorbed into the bloodstream however sometimes these proteins don’t completely break down and form small peptide chains which can trigger inflammation we often see this with animal derived complex proteins so there’s a good chance of developing a sensitivity to one or more types of meat or even eggs and that’s why the carnivore diet can be risky for fibromyalgia as it limits your food options and increases the chance of food sensitivities all right that’s my talk in the comments below tell me your experience with the carnivore diet and what has worked for you and what didn’t I’m curious to hear about your experiences as you’ve know as you know I’ve had great success using the Mind gut immunity method in my clients and I’m a strong supporter of customized phytonutrient diet and focused gut microbiome recalibration for our fibromyalgic clients to achieve lasting results so if you found this video helpful don’t forget to like And subscribe for more content such as this as always this
